Aptana Studio

Yesterday I downloaded and installed Aptana Studio 3 to assist my PHP development. I’d only used notepad++ to code previously (which actually does a grand job) but with me now doing more object oriented dev, I thought I’d have a look at PHP IDEs.

I downloaded Zend Studio (advertised as the leading PHP editor), noted the $299 fee after the free trial of 30 days and then found Aptana Studio 3, which is just free (no trial). So even though I downloaded and installed Zend’s IDE, I’ve not actually used it. I don’t think I’m likely to, either, as Aptana is pretty good.

I’ll just post some screenshots for now, as I’ve not explored Aptana too deeply. I’ll save the tutorials for later when I have more experience and familiarity using it.

To tell the truth, I’m seduced by the light text on dark background! White on black would be far too harsh, but the colours used offer a contrast that is kinder to the eyes.
