SEMRush is an analysis tool that you can use to replicate other webmasters’ profitable Adwords driven sites. Briefly, here are the steps. We’ll explore them in more detail later, with the aid of an example.
By listing the site for sale, the owner has already demonstrated that the site is profitable. They have also shown precisely how profitable the site is.
Let’s take as our example, this auction on Flippa. In case the listing gets deleted, here are the stats:
When we pop the URL into SEMRush and click Search, we can get our hands on all the keywords the owner is bidding on in Adwords. When I search, I get a list of 377, and they look something like this:
Straight away we can see what the number one keyword they’re bidding on is, and a rough idea of how much it’s costing them. From here, it’s very easy to export this list to an Excel spreadsheet, copy the keywords and paste them into your own Adwords campaign.
This list also tells us the landing URL for each keyword. You might not be able to determine the landing page by searching in Google for the keywords yourself if the ad isn’t currently running, or the campaign is targeting a different geopgraphic location etc. This piece of information, therefore, is quite useful.
SEMRush doesn’t just limit its Adwords reporting data to keywords. It even displays the ad copy! Never use the “I can’t write ad copy” excuse ever again!
Only four ads are displayed on the dashboard, however, when we click on the Full Report link, SEMRush shows us all 377 ads. Wow.
It would be a simple job to replicate the site too, as it comprises only two pages. Don’t be fooled by all the links running down the left hand side of the homepage – they just reposition the page at the registration form.
At this point we have:
It doesn’t get much easier than this.
